Overview

I was tasked with developing a product promotional website designed to help users explore the different fragrances of the perfume brand Kayali, and where to purchase these fragrances. I created a simple and user-friendly interface that helps users understand information, navigate and purchase.

Project goals

My goal was to design a product website to help promote the perfume company Kayali. I focused on designing a user-friendly, intuitive, and simple interface for users to navigate through.

Process

Project Proposal

My first step was to create a detailed project proposal describing and explaining how I would use and consider different UI/UX principles and Laws for my website. My proposal highlighted the design techniques I used to create a user-friendly interface to help customers navigate, compare fragrances, and where to purchase their desired fragrance.

User Interface Design Principles

Fitts's Law

Fitts's law is a principle that states that the time required for a user to click or interact with a target is influenced by both the size of the target and the distance to it. I considered this in my designs by making sure the buttons are large with enough margins to leave room for error as well. This will help reduce the time it takes the user to click a button because they don't have to click it in a perfect spot.

Hick's Law

Hick's Law is a principle that states the time a user takes to make a decision grows with the number and complexity of options available. By taking Hick’s Law into consideration, I limited the number of navigation choices for the user.

Multimedia  Principle

This principle states that people tend to learn better when there is a mix of text and pictures, and not just the text by itself. I applied this principle to my website by adding an explanatory image and text, adding annotations to the photo of the perfume/products to highlight specific ingredients and scent notes that convey the same idea- helping users understand more easily.

Takeaway

Working on this product promotional website reinforced the importance of applying core UX/UI design principles — clarity, consistency, and user-centered thinking. I focused on creating an experience that not only looks visually engaging but also feels intuitive and guides users naturally toward the brand’s message. This project strengthened my ability to balance creativity with functionality, building a site that is both beautiful and effective.
